SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces to be clean, dry, sound and free of all laitance, grease, oil or loose and flaking particles.
Concrete:
All new concrete slabs must be allowed to cure for at least 6 weeks. Old concrete must be cleaned with a strong commercial grade detergent or degreaser, then thoroughly wash off all residue with clean water. Allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours.
Render:
Newly rendered surfaces must be allowed to cure for at least 7 days.
Lightweight Blocks:
Prime the surfaces with acrylic primer prior to applying PU Coating.
Metal Surfaces:
All metal surfaces must be totally free of rust. Prime metal surfaces with an etch primer.
Old waterproofing (liquid or membrane):
Any surface to be coated should be CLEAN and MECHANICALLY SOUND.
Previously painted systems must be scrubbed using copious quantities of clean water.
Conditioned bitumen surfaces
Ageing of the bitumen yields considerable quantity of water soluble dust derived from the oxidization process of the bitumen surface.
This water soluble dust must be washed off the immediate surface by scrubbing and using copious quantities of clean water.
Cracks:
Hairline cracks up to 1 mm wide which experience no movement, may be duly filled up with  PU Coating before applying another layer over the area to be waterproofed.
Structural cracks which experience movement must be opened up and sealed with pu sealant and a polypropylene tape securely placed over the sealed crack. PU Coating should then be applied over the area and on the tape and allowed to cure.
Drain Application:
Treat the inside and around the drain with a separate layer of PU Coating before proceeding with the actual application of the whole surface area.
PRECAUTIONARY NOTES
Do not allow the product to freeze.
Do not apply if the temperature is in excess of 45oC or less than 5oC.
Delay external applications when inclement weather is imminent.
Do not thin PU Coating, as it is supplied ready for use.
Ponding should be avoided at least 48 hours after the final application of PU Coating.
For the intended use of PU Coating involving unfamiliar applications/substrates, contact BCR Construction Chemicals for advice.

BCR Thermo-shield

INSULATING AND WATERPROOFING COATING (IMPROVED FORMULATION).
Thermo-shield , is a single component cost effective heat shielding waterproof coating.
  • Thermo-shield uses advanced insulation technology to reduce the interior temperature of buildings.
  • Thermo-shield is especially formulated with fine spherical particles that minimise surface temperature on roofs & walls by reflecting a large percentage of the radiant heat energy before it penetrates the building. This lowers interior temperature and reduces energy cost for cooling the building.
  • Thermo-shield is a high solids PU Coating which exhibits excellent UV resistance and elongation.
  • Thermo-shield is ideal for roofs and walls in both commercial, industrial and residential buildings.
  • Thermo-shield can be applied to substrates such as concrete, mortar, aluminium, steel, fibre cement, brick, wood.

  • FEATURES & BENEFITS
  • Easy to apply non-toxic & environmentally friendly.
  • Reduces radiant heat in structure by a minimum of 30% (colour dependant).
  • Inherent anti- fungal properties.
  • Excellent U V resistance & stretch.
  • Low V O C emissions.
  • Combined waterproofing and insulating in one product.

SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be free of grease, oil and dust. Very smooth surfaces should be roughened for better adhesion.
Loose rust, moss, lichens, crumbling cement, deteriorated fibre cement and degraded bituminous substances must be removed either mechanically or chemically.
Surface faults such as blisters, holes and cracks should be cleaned out, and then repaired with a flexible sealer. Small hairline cracks can be painted with Thermoshield brushed in, allow to dry, then repeat until filled or at least sealed.
Rusty metal should be cleaned by blasting or other means to suitable standard then primed with a Rust Converter. Other metals should be suitably primed or treated e.g. for new galvanising, degrease, etch or roughen surface before coating.
BONDING / PRIMING
Adhesion to porous & friable substrates can be improved by priming with acrylic primer. This is recommended to consolidate the potentially weak surface. Sealing with acrylic primer greatly reduces this type of potential failure.
MIXING
Stir well before use.
APPLICATION
Thermo-shield may be applied direct to all common building substrates, i.e. concrete, mortar, aluminium, steel, cement sheet, painted surfaces and brick. Some priming may be required, depending on the surface condition. (Please consult our  technical department for further advice).
Apply two or more coats to obtain recommended total thickness by brush, roller, spread bar or airless spray gun. The ideal application temperature is between 10 – 30°C and relative humidity 30 – 80%. In rapid drying conditions, mask large areas into smaller zones to help obtain even application and appearance.
Rinse brushes, etc. ,frequently in water to prevent drying/ clogging. Keep containers closed to minimise skin formation.
In fast drying conditions, adhesion to unsealed absorbent or porous surfaces is significantly improved by acrylic primer.
COVERAGE
Flat Roofs: 1.1m²/ litre @0.5 dry film thickness.

BCR KRYSTALKOTE, cementitious crystallization coating.

BCR krystalkote

CEMENTICIOUS WATERPROOFING SYSTEM BY CRYSTALLIZATION.
BCR krystalkote is a cementicious waterproofing coating which protects and waterproofs concrete structures by crystallization. The active chemicals react with moisture in the concrete resulting in a crystalline formation within the pores and capillary tracts of concrete, thus waterproofing the structure against penetration of water and other liquids from any direction. krystalkote gives a strong and lasting waterproofing protection against dampness and ground water hydrostatic pressure.
Recommended for use on interior and exterior below grade surfaces. krystalkote gives protection against concrete decay and waterborne corrosive salts.
Can be used for negative waterproofing of concrete structure and on horizontal structural slabs against hydrostatic pressure as it provides strong resistance to impact and abrasion.
Area of application
  • Basements
  • Wet areas
  • Tunnels
  • Underground garages
  • Planter boxes
  • ADVANTAGES
  • Single component and easy to apply
  • Can be used for positive and negative waterproofing of concrete structure
