BITPRUFE 115/15 HOT MELT OXIDISED BIUMEN
DESCRIPTION
Bitprufe 115/15 is manufactured by blowing hot air through the soft bitumen by-product of crude oil refining. Under controlled conditions, this process alters the bitumen to give it rubber-like characteristics. The suffix 115/15 refers to the softening point and penetration of the compound respectively.

TYPICAL USES:
Bitprufe 115/15 is used in a variety of applications, such as:
Protection of below ground concrete in buildings and civil engineering works .
Bonding course in built-up roofing (BUR) systems .
Bonding course in hot mop bridge decking systems.

ADVANTAGES
. Excellent adhesion to most building substrates
. Good slump resistance at high temperatures in vertical and sloping surfaces
. Quick drying-intercoat time is minimized
. Resistant to moisture penetration and good waterproofing properties.
. Immune to dry and wet rot, fungus attack and similar forms of deterioration.

RELEVANT STANDARDS
Bitprufe 115/15 conforms to the following standards:
. ASTM D312:1995a - Table 1, Type IV for BUR

APPLICATION:
Surface preparation
Surfaces onto which coating is to be applied must be sound and clean. Dust, loose materials and protrusions must be removed and cracks, holes, etc., made good.

Priming
Cementitious surfaces must be primed with a coat of Black Bitumen Paint at 5m2/litre. Allow primer to dry completely before application of Bitprufe 115/15.

Application
Bitprufe 115/15 is supplied in solid form and must be heated to a molten state for application.
After removal of the packaging, cakes of material are placed into a proprietary bitumen heating kettle equipped with mechanically operated agitators and thermometers to monitor the temperature, which must not exceed 220°C at any time.
Bitprufe 115/15 is applied by mop or stiff brush. Bitprufe 115/15 must not be heated on direct fire and/or in original packagingThe molten bitumen should be transferred from the kettle to the point of application using a suitable container.
