BCR SILANE

SILANNE / SILOXANE WATER REPELLENT.
Silane  is a one-component siloxane waterproofing solution.
Silane is designed to deposit a non-flammable, dry water-repellent film of silicones within the capillaries of porous surfaces that would otherwise discolour through moisture uptake and stain as a result of deposition of water-borne contaminants and dirt. This water-repellent film permits the substrate to ‘breathe‘. Silane will assist in stabilising lime in plaster surfaces.
ADVANTAGES
  • Brush or spray applied direct from container.
  • Equally effective on new or old surfaces.
  • Preserves natural colour and texture of treated material.
  • Allows surface to breathe.
  • Reduces the risk of efflorescence and frost spalling.
  • Inhibits penetration of soot and grime.
  • Reduces unsightly staining; unaffected by salt laden atmosphere.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface to be treated should be clean, sound and dry. It should be free from dust, dirt, loose particles and oily or greasy deposits.
The surface should be dry to allow maximum penetration of Silane. No application should be made for at least four days after rain.
Plaster should be at least seven days old before coating and concrete should cure for at least 28 days.
BONDING/PRIMING
No special primer required.

MIXING
Stir well before use.
COVERAGE
3 – 5 m2/L depending on porosity of substrate.
APPLICATION
Silane should be applied by brush or through a low pressure knapsack sprayer. Application should commence from the highest point of the surface and work down the surface. Some run-down of the coating is permissible but should not exceed 250-300mm. A second coat may be given but only after at least two hours drying time between coats.
Silane is highly volatile. Avoid working in full sunshine to achieve maximum penetration. Confine activities to the shadow side of the structures.
CLEANING
Tools, brushes and mixing equipment should be cleaned immediately after use and before material has set with brush cleaner followed by washing with soap and water.
PROTECTION ON COMPLETION
May be over painted with a high quality PVA / acrylic coating.
TEMPERATURE AND RELATIVE HUMIDITY
Application temperature: 5ºC to 30ºC. Do not apply if rain is imminent.
MODEL SPECIFICATION

The water repellent will be Silane, a one-component, silane siloxane liquid applied in accordance with the recommendations of Construction Chemicals. The liquid will have a minimum of 5% volume solids content.
PACKAGING
1L, 5L, 25L and 200L containers.
HANDLING & STORAGE
This product has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging. In more extreme conditions this period might be shortened.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Toxicity: Solvents are toxic Water tainting: Does not taint water Fire resistance of wet film: Flammable
Ensure working area is well ventilated during application and drying. Avoid flames in vicinity. Always wear gloves when working with the material and avoid excessive inhalation and skin contact.
